COLOMBO (News1st): Locals in Uwa Paranagama, Badulla have been hit by problems caused by animals, our Gammadda team learn during its door-to-door campaign. Residents of Medipokuna, Kirimatiyawa, and Talapitiya face many problems due to wild boars and monkeys. Their problems have aggravated due to a species of poisonous ants that destroy their cultivations in an unusual pattern. Meanwhile, Children residing in Udathambawita, Mawanella face difficulties while going to school on rainy days, as the road is filled with mud. The lack of clean drinking water is another problem faced by these locals. The Gammadda team also toured the Ashraff Town in Addalaichenai, in which people have been affected due to wild elephants that encroach into the village. Garbage collected in Kalmunai, Kartivu, Nindaur, Addalaichenai, Akkaraipattu and Sammanthurai are disposed in the vicinity of this village, inviting wild elephants to encroach this area.
