Copy of petition on 20A sent to Parliament: Speaker

COLOMBO (News1st): Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena today told Parliament that a copy of a petition regarding the 20th amendment has been sent to the Parliament. Nalin Bandara questioned why the camera in parliament had not focused on the Opposition Leader when he had been delivering his address on the day in which the draft bill of the amendment was tabled in Parliament. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abyeygunawardena, in response, said that former speaker W.J. Lokubandara, referred to an order issued yesterday over the matter. "...the camera must not be focused on any section of the chamber in which violent scenes can be seen, and instead must be focused on the speaker and the mace," the speaker said.
