COPE, COPA and COPP of 09th Parliament to meet for the first time

Colombo (News 1st); The first meeting of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) of the 09th Parliament will take place at 02:30 PM on the 22nd of September.

The Sri Lankan Parliament said the first meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) will take place on the 23rd of September.

When the committees meet for the first time, the members will elect a Chairman of the respective committee from among them, said the Sri Lankan Parliament adding a decision would thereafter be reached on issuing summons on government institutions.

Both the Committee on Public Enterprises and the Committee on Public Accounts comprise of 22 members.

The duty of the Committee on Public Enterprises is to examine the accounts of the Public Corporations and of any business undertaking vested in the Government.

The duty of the Committee on Public Accounts is to examine the accounts showing the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet the public expenditure.

The Committee on Public Petitions of the 09th Parliament of Sri Lanka will meet for the first time on the 24th of September.
