Will the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress cross over in support of the 20th Amendment?

Colombo (News 1st): Is the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress planning to switch sides in the future? Let's now take a look at some views expressed by Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Deputy Leader - Nasir Ahamed during an event in Batticaloa yesterday. Deputy Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress - Nazeer Ahamed said that several matters have been discussed at the Party's Central Committee meeting. He said that the SLMC had pointed out earlier that they did not occupy a national list seat in the quota received by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya at the General Election. Adding further, Ahamed said that following discussions it was decided that it is important to join hands with the Government for a good cause. Nasir Ahamed also said, at a time when an objection has been made against the 20th Amendment, and when there is pressure to make changes to it, the SLMC's stance regarding that will be announced once current matters are resolved. He also said that the party understands that the Government will require a 2/3rd majority to pass the Constitutional Amendment and to enact a new Constitution. Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress - Rauff Hakeem joining News1st Newsline Program before the General Election expressed his views about the possibility of joining the Government. Hakeem said they hope to agree with the Government on a policy basis instead of saying that the SLMC received invitations. He said they had to form a coalition with the past Governments due to certain matters that pressurized them and that it is not healthy to allow that situation to occur again.
