Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said motorists who violate the Traffic Lane Law will be fined Rs. 2000/- from Thursday (17th September).
In addition, the Sri Lanka Corps Of Military Police – Sri Lanka Army will be deployed to monitor the Traffic Lane Law.
Sri Lanka Police said the personnel from the Sri Lanka Corps Of Military Police – Sri Lanka Army will be positioned at 20 selected locations.
The Sri Lanka Air Force Drones Operators conducted surveillance operations along the four main routes side by side with the educational program conducted by the Sri Lanka Police.
The SLAF utilized four (4) drones to cover the entry routes into the city of Colombo mainly from Rajagiriya, Nugegoda, Borella, and Galle Road.
SSP Indika Hapugoda, the Director of Motor Traffic and Road Safety of Sri Lanka Police said around 1500 Traffic Police officers were deployed to enforce the Traffic Lane Law in addition to 200 Female Police Officers.
He added personnel from the three-armed forces would also be deployed to enforce the Traffic Lane Law if required.
