COLOMBO (News1st): The law will be enforced equally against all those who commit crimes and offences, defense secretary Kamal Gunaratne has said.
"We do not care about positions or titles of those who commit wrongdoings," Gunaratne, a retired major general said upon visiting the Bogambara prison.
Meanwhile, the former defence secretary has called the inmates who on a hunger strike at the Boossa prison as the "biggest criminals" in the country.
"They are demanding that security officers at prisons should refrain from performing security check ups on lawyers who enter the prison premises," he noted.
He pointed out that such matters must not be of concern to prison inmates.
Gunaratne insisted that anyone who enters the high security zone, including the commissioner general of prisons, must go through a security check up.
