COLOMBO(News 1st): Two new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed yesterday.

Two returnees from the United Arab Emirates and India, who were undergoing quarantine tested positive for the virus yesterday, the Government Information Department stated.

Accordingly, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 3,123.

There are 186 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment.

A total of 2925 people have recovered after contracting the virus, according to the Ministry of Health, .

Risk of COVID-19 spreading among the community has not been eliminated, Chief Virologist at the Department of Virology of the Medical Research Institute, Dr. Jude Jayamaha reiterated.

Therefore, he emphasized that it is the social responsibility of everyone, to follow health guidelines such as wearing face masks, washing hands, and maintaining social distances, to prevent further spread of the virus.

It is important to seek proper medical treatment without concealing the truth in the case of being exposed to a COVID-19 positive case, Dr. Jude Jayamaha further added.
