Strong Winds and Rough Sea areas warning issued: Department of Meteorology

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at the Department of Meteorology on Sunday (Sep 06) issued a 'Strong Winds and Rough Sea areas warning'. "Wind speed can increase up to 70 kmph in the deep and shallow sea areas around the island from 9:00 am today (Sep 06) until 9:00 am tomorrow (Sep 07)," the warning noted. The sea areas around the island can be rough to very rough in this period. "Therefore, fishermen are informed that it is dangerous to venture into sea areas until 9:00 am tomorrow, and naval communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard," the warning further emphasized.
