COLOMBO (News1st): President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has said he would not succumb to pressure and change decisions on the appointments made after a lengthy thought process. The President has stressed that he has no intention to change these appointments and to appoint various individuals to those positions due to any form of influence. He pointed out that some appointments that were made recently had come under criticism, and that such appointments had been made on behalf of the country's sovereignty, and national security. Rajapaksa emphasized that these appointments have been made on a timely basis after inquiring into the qualifications and background of the appointed. He requested to avoid opposing any appointment and to refrain from exerting pressure on him or the government to change such decisions.
