COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 232,423 people from 69,571 families were affected due to dry weather conditions experienced in the past five months, the Disaster Management Centre said on Saturday (Aug 29).
In its latest situation report, the Disaster Management Centre noted that 10 districts were severely affected due to dry weather conditions.
The affected districts are, Kurunegala, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Mullaitivu, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Vavuniya.
According to the DMC, Jaffna is the worst affected district, with 89,268 people from 27,681 families impacted due to dry weather conditions.
