COLOMBO (News1st): All lawmakers must work towards introducing a new constitution regardless of their parties, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has said.
“People are expecting a massive constitutional change,” the Prime Minister said during a workshop for first-time parliamentarians on Tuesday.
The current parliament has 81 new lawmakers.
Rajapaksa stressed that lawmakers must fulfill their duties regardless of whether they receive ministerial portfolios or not.
“…if you don’t do your duty as a parliamentarian, people will not hesitate to send you home,” he pointed out.
The Prime Minister insisted that all parliamentarians must fulfill their duties, whether it is a small or big responsibility, as they are people’s representatives.
