Indian Court rejects bail for lawyer in Angoda Lokka murder investigation

Colombo ( News 1st);  The Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) court in Coimbatore on Monday (24) dismissed the bail petition of lawyer Sivakami Sundari who was arrested for concealing the identity of Sri Lankan Underworld don "Angoda Lokka". The Times of India reports, Sivakami Sundari was also charged with forging documents to obtain an Aadhaar card him in the name of Pradeep Singh. Advocate Malaravan filed the petition before the CJM court seeking conditional bail for Sivakami Sundari, reported TOI. The CB-CID filed a counter-petition before the court and said the investigation was not over and Sundari could destroy the evidence if she got bail, further reported the Times of India. The bail petition came up for hearing before the chief judicial magistrate Sreekumar who dismissed it. "Angoda Lokka" died of a cardiac arrest in Coimbatore on the night of July 3rd, reported multiple Indian news outlets. Amani Dhanji, 27, of Colombo, who had stayed with "Angoda Lokka", and Sundari took the dead body to Madurai where it was cremated. Dhyaneswaran, a friend of Sundari, had helped "Angoda Lokka". The Peelamedu police registered a case against the trio and arrested them. Later, the case was transferred to the Tamil Nadu Crime Branch-CID. Source : The Times of India
