Parliament's committee on selection appointed

COLOMBO (News1st): The parliament's Committee on Selection that will appoint members to other parliament committees was named on Friday, state documents showed. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena will head the 12-member committee that will comprise leaders or members of political parties represented in Parliament. The first committee meeting was held at 2 pm on Friday. It will decide on the constituency of parliament consultative committees, standing committees, and also nominate members to the committees for special purposes. Committee members include Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dinesh Gunawardena, Johnston Fernando, Douglas Devananda, Dullas Alahapperuma, Wimal Weerawansa, Prasanna Ranatunga, Lakshman Kiriella, Gayantha Karunatilleka, Rauff Hakeem, Vijitha Herath, and Selvam Adaikkalanathan.
