Sangha Sabha office declared open in Wellawatte

COLOMBO (News1st): The office of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya Sangha Sabha was declared open in Wellawatte on Saturday. Several dignitaries including the Maha Sangha, the Navy Commander, and former speaker Karu Jayasuriya attended the ceremony. The plaque for the office was unveiled by the Prime Minister and Ajitha de Zoysa, the Vice President of the Dayaka Sabha. "I'm glad that I got to attend an event of this nature, at a time monks are fighting to enter parliament," Rajapaksa said during the event. The portraits of Sir Cyril de Zoysa, and the Mahanayake Theros who have rendered a yeoman service to Buddhism was unveiled during the occasion. Ajitha de Zoysa made a financial donation to the Amarapura Maha Nikaya Sangha Sabha office that has been named as the Sir Cyril de Zoysa Commemoration Building.
