COLOMBO (News 1st): Today (Aug 6) is not a government holiday, the Ministry of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Government reiterated. 

“The government holiday is ONLY valid for state sector officials who are on election duty,” J.J. Rathnasiri – Secretary to the Ministry of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Government said on Thursday (Aug 6).
