Colombo (News 1st); An application for bail made on behalf of the 13 Police Narcotic Bureau officers arrested and remanded on the charges of drug trafficking and selling heroin & ICE seized in drug raids to traffickers, was rejected by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne on Tuesday (04).
The Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered the 13 suspects to be remanded until the 18th of August.
The suspects currently held at the ‘Angunakolapelessa Prison’ were not produced in court today and therefore, the Colombo Chief Magistrate ordered the Prison Superintendent to produce them at the next court hearing.
Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris informed the court, the Government Analyst had reported trace residue of drugs including heroin was detected from the driver’s seat, trunk, and spare-wheel in 04 vehicles owned by Sub-Inspector Chathuranga Premasiri, who is currently being detained and interrogated with regard to the drug trafficking operation.
The Chief Magistrate also ordered the detectives to deposit the over Rs. 30 Million discovered from the possession of the suspects to the case account.
Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris further, added the Government Analyst had reported out of the 23 drug parcels seized from the Police Narcotic Bureau Evidence Storage, the contents of 22 parcels were removed.
