Seven candidates who violated Election laws arrested

COLOMBO(News1st): 07 candidates who violated Election laws have been arrested, Police said. Candidates are from the Puttalam, Kurunegala, Jaffna and Vavuniya districts, Senior DIG in charge of Elections, Priyantha Weerasuriya stated. Disciplinary action has been taken against 10 Police officers who engaged in duty in violation of election laws, He further stated. They have received 320 complaints relating to violations of Election laws, the Police stated. 360 people have been arrested in this regard. 86 criminal complaints have also been received with regard to the upcoming polls, Senior DIG Priyantha Weerasuriya further added.
