Sri Lanka Police reveal shocking details of child sex abuse involving 54-year old man

Colombo (News 1st);  In a breaking story that has captured the attention of Sri Lanka and the world, Police in Sri Lanka today revealed shocking information of at least three children under the age of 16 who were sexually abused by a 54-year-old man who worked as a ‘set designer’ for a media network and also as a tuition teacher.

Police Spokesperson SSP Jaliya Senaratne said the suspects ‘Modus Operandi’ was to lure the children to his house by using his occupation and connections, where he would then sexually abuse them.

Many photographs of children being sexually abused were discovered in the possession of the suspect and Police say footage saved on storage devices such as CD’s recovered will be sent to the Government Analyst and Experts in IT, for a full report.

A Desktop Computer, two Cameras, a Pen Drive, a Memory Chip, 137 CDs, 17 photographs of various dimensions, and a cell phone were seized by police, and contents will be used to pursue investigations.

On Sunday, Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority Professor Muditha Vidanapathirana said the identified victims were produced for medical tests.

The suspect was remanded until the 08th of August.
