Operations in search of drug addicts begins

COLOMBO(News 1st): Operations have begun in search of people addicted to drugs, due to the apparent threat they pose to the control of COVID-19, National Board for the Control of Dangerous Drugs said. A program has been launched to direct drug addicts in government and private rehabilitation centers for PCR tests, Dr. Laknath Welagedara, Chairman of the National Board for the Control of Dangerous Drugs added. He also requested the public to immediately inform the public health inspectors in charge of their respective areas, if a person is identified to be suffering with drug addiction. There are 04 rehabilitation centers established in the country for the rehabilitation of those addicted to drugs. Nearly 200 people are currently receiving treatment at these centers, The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board further stated.
