RDA and Kurunegala UC to cover restoration costs

Cost to restore archaeological site to be recovered from RDA and Kurunegala UC

Colombo (News 1st); The cost to renovate and restore the archaeological site in Kurunegala which was recently demolished is to be recovered from the respective government institutions accountable for the destruction.

The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs Secretary M. K. Bandula Harischandra said letters to this respect were sent to the Road Development Authority and the Kurunegala Municipal Council.

Plans to restore the archaeological site were drafted, said Bandula Harischandra adding however, the restoration and renovation was suspended temporarily following a court issued prohibiting entry to the site, pending investigations.
