Colombo (News 1st); UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said he will file a complaint with the CID with regard to contradictory statements made by members in government on funding granted to Sri Lanka during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"On the 11th or 12th of July, the Health Minister said Sri Lanka received 1.9 Million US Dollars from the WHO. However, today she says goods were received," said Wickremesinghe.

He went on to note, "On the 03rd of July Minister Bandula Gunawardena said Sri Lanka received 252 Million US Dollars, however, the Health Minister said Sri Lanka received nothing,".

Ranil Wickremesinghe said, therefore, it is important for the government to declare who is speaking the truth and who is lying.

The people are living in fear of COVID-19, said the UNP Leader adding the government must reach a decision to conduct tests.

"Who's lying? Is it the Prime Minister or the Health Minister?," questioned Ranil Wickremesinghe.

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe called on the government to appoint a dedicated Minister to comment on the COVID-19 situation as public trust on government officials is tarnished.
