Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said it hopes to seek the Death Penalty against the Police Narcotic Bureau officers who are guilty of trafficking drugs.
Deputy Police Chief Ajith Rohana speaking to reporters on Friday (10) said investigations against the suspect PNB officers will be expedited and indictments will be filed with court via the Attorney General.
DIG Ajith Rohana said after 1979 the death sentence was not enforced in Sri Lanka, however, a request will be made from court to enforce the death sentence against any of the Police Narcotic Bureau officers found guilty of trafficking drugs.
“The entire Sri Lanka Police force is reprimanded for the despicable conduct of 18 Police Narcotic Bureau Officers,” said Ajith Rohana.
He stressed, Sri Lanka Police, will not accommodate or protect any corrupt officer.
