COLOMBO (News1st) : Farmers of Butawatta are facing a problem of flies that have destroyed their crops that were cultivated amidst the COVID-19 lockdown. These farmers had cultivated crops such as cowpea, pumpkin, snake gourd, bitter gourd and ridge gourd after clearing old paddy fields in the recent months. "These are infected with worms and insects. Nobody at the Agriculture Ministry visited us," a farmer complained, while speaking to News 1st. Farmers say they have been badly affected as their main mode of income is agriculture.
