Colombo (News 1st); The Colombo Chief Magistrate permitted detectives to detain & interrogate until the 08th of July, the 12 Police Narcotic Bureau officers arrested by CID on charges of trafficking drugs.
The 12 suspects were produced to Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne on Thursday evening.
The 12 arrested PNB officers are; 01 Police Inspector, 02 Police Sub-Inspectors, 03 Police Sergeants, and 06 Police Contables.
The Attorney General's Department informed the Chief Magistrate that investigations revealed the Police Sub-Inspector and 03 other officers and the three civilians who were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department had trafficked drugs with the other suspects.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate granted permission to detain and interrogate the suspects following a presentation of facts by Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris.
The Chief Magistrate ordered the 12 Police Officers to be re-produced in court on the 08th of July for observation.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate also issued an order to securely place the investigation report as DSG Dileepa Peiris claimed the report contained very sensitive information.
