Colombo (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police stressed any corrupt officer within the Police Narcotic Bureau will not be entitled to any form of pardon.

A Sub-Inspector, Two Sergeants, and a Constable – all with the Police Narcotic Bureau – were arrested on the charges of having links with drug traffickers while two outsiders were detained for interrogation on the same matter, said Sri Lanka Police.

Detectives thus far discovered two vans and an SUV used by the PNB officers to traffic drugs and also seized over 30 Million Rupees from their possession.

Further, details of their assets including land and jewelry were uncovered by investigators.

Deputy Police Chief Ajith Rohana speaking to reporters at the Police HQ said 25 detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department are investigating the matter as three separate teams.

He said the corrupt Narcotic Bureau officers were indirectly involved with drug trafficking operations.

DIG Ajith Rohana went on to note the assets of the corrupt officers will be seized via the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
