Colombo (News 1st); Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has welcomed the comments which claim the TNA would support the government after the 2020 General Election.
“Anyone is welcome to support the government and oppose it,” said the Prime Minister.
At a meeting with Tamil journalists at the Temple Trees premises, the Prime Minister said the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), while claiming to represent the people of the North, replaced their crucial issues with those that enabled their political benefits.
He recalled how a vast number of development projects became evident in the Northern and Eastern Provinces during the tenure of his government from 2005-2010, since 1977.
Apart from the development projects carried out and implemented during his tenure, the good governance government failed to provide such a service for the people of the North and East, said the Prime Minister.
In addition, the Prime Minister stated the Government of Sri Lanka will prioritize addressing the drinking water issue, which is a major problem faced by the people in the North and East.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa assured investments in Sri Lanka would be protected and investors will be encouraged to invest in the North of the country as well.
“I do not approve the comments made by Karuna Amman,” said the Prime Minister during the meeting.
