Sri Lanka Police charge over 3500 people for traffic violations

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police have instituted legal action against 3,534 people over violations of motor traffic regulations, following a special raid carried out across the island. "Cases were filed against 422 people for driving under the influence and another 3112 were charged for other traffic violations," Sri Lanka Police said on Monday (June 29). The raid was carried out from 8:00 pm on Sunday (June 28) till 4:00 am on Monday (June 29). A total of 422 vehicles were taken into police custody during the raid.
