Do not inspect sand permits until govt. reaches a decision - Acting IGP  

COLOMBO (News 1st): Acting Inspector General of Police C. D. Wickramaratne has instructed all police stations not to inspect the permits granted to transport sand, until the government reaches a policy decision. Recently the the Chairman of the Geological Survey & Mines Bureau Anura Walpola said the Minister of Environment and Wildlife instructed him to temporarily suspend the permit system required to transport minerals with effect from the 01st of June, until further notice.
