Colombo (News 1st); The National Elections Commission announced the dates for Postal Voting for the 2020 General Election.

Postal Voting will take place on both the 14th and 15th of July, said the National Elections Commission.

However, postal voting for District Secretariat staff, Election Office staff, Armed Forces Personnel, Police Officers, Personnel from the Civil Security Department, and the Health Sector will take place on the 16th and 17th of July until 12 noon.

A statement bearing the signature of the Chairman of the National Elections Commission further noted those who are unable to exercise their franchise on those dates, can cast their vote by vising the District Election Office of their respective electorate on the 20th and 21st of July.

Polling Cards for the 2020 General Election will officially be handed over to the Department of Posts on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of July and the distribution of polling cards will conclude on the 29th of July.

The statement from the National Elections Commission further noted those who do not receive their Polling Cards after the 29th of July, can obtain their Polling Card by calling over to the post office in the respective electorate and proving one's identity.

Further, certification of postal voter lists will take place on the 18th of June, and Postal Voting Polling Cards will be handed over to the Department of Posts on the 30th of June, 01st of July, and 02nd of July.
