Colombo (News 1st); Police Constable, Sithum Alahapperuma (22) attached to the State Intelligence Services (SIS), who died at the accident in Bambalapitiya on June 11th, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, today.

The Defence Ministry said, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant by the Acting IGP C.D. Wicramarathna.

Alahapperuma, who met with an accident died on Sunday morning while he was receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital’s (CNH).

The young officer was credited for thwarting a robbery of Rs. Rs. 7.9 million, which was done by a doctor at the CNH.
