COLOMBO (News1st): Critics have accused the government of being biased towards the US, after police, on Tuesday, arrested activists who protested against the death of George Floyd in the US, an unarmed man who died in police custody. "We saw that they are biased towards the US and the government of Trump," Chameera Perera, a parliamentary election candidate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya told reporters at a media briefing. At least 53 activists of the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) were arrested during protests in Colombo, for violating a court order issued against the demonstration. They were later granted bail. "They strived hard to protect the US government. They were committed towards that," Perera remarked. The FSP had organized another protest in Badulla against the assault of its members during the protest that saw tensions between the protestrors and the police.
