Colombo (News 1st): The date of the General Election will be announced during the week, The Chairman of the National Election Commission (NEC) said on Monday (8). The National Election Commission convened today with the attendance of the Chairman of the NEC, Mahinda Deshapriya to decide on the date of the General Election. However, at a press conference following the meeting, Mr Deshapriya noted that the date would not be announced today. "There will be more trial elections during the 14th and the 15th", noted Deshapriya adding that two or more electoral districts will be combined for the purpose of holding the trial election.
