Basil's Divineguma Case postponed

Colombo High Court Judge postpones the case filed against Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa.

Today Colombo High Court Judge Champa Janaki Rajaratne postponed the case filed against 04 accused including Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa to the 29th of September. The case was filed against the accused by the Attorney General under 05 separate indictments including the misappropriation of 2.991 Billion Rupees belonging to the Divineguma Development Department as well as the distribution of steel roofing sheets during the run up to the 2015 Presidential Election. Further examination of the case was fixed for today. However considering the fact, several counsel for the petitioners were appearing at the Supreme Court for a matter related to the elections, the High Court Judge decided to postpone sittings. The Attorney General filed the case against the following individuals... 1) Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa. 2) Former Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development - Dr. Nihal Jayathilake. 3) Former Director General of the Department of Divineguma Development - Kithsiri Ranawaka 4) Deputy Director General of the Department of Divineguma Development - Bandula Thilakasiri
