The Ministry of Health has informed that mosquito eradication programmes should start in all districts.

With the prevailing rain there is an increased risk of dengue, Director of the National Dengue Eradication Unit, Dr. Aruna Jayasekara said.

19,376 dengue patients were reported islandwide so far this year.

The Mosquito Eradication Program will focus on the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North Western, and Central provinces.

Strict legal action will be taken against those who maintain mosquito breeding premises, he added.
