It has been revealed that only 60% of school student in Sri Lanka have access to distance learning, according to a survey carried out by the Ministry of Education with the closure of schools due to the coronavirus.
40% of the student population who do not have any distance learning facilities should be provided with a mechanism to engage in education during the time frame when schools were closed, Secretary to the Ministry, M. H. N. Chithrananda said.
Accordingly, steps will be taken to distribute pamphlets of educational materials printed to them at the school level, He added.
Several rounds of discussions have been held with the provincial education authorities regarding this.
Every student will be provided with a method of teaching during the period of school closure, he further added.
