19 trains to operate from Monday

COLOMBO (News1st) : The railways department has said that 19 trains will operate from Monday, amidst mounting requests by commuters. At least 11,500 people have sought permission to travel by train next week, railways general manager Dilantha Fernando noted. Accordingly, seven trains will operate along the main railway line, six on the coastal line, and four on the Kelani Valley Railway line. One train each will operate on the Puttalam line and the Northern line, Fernando said. Employees travelling to work have been permitted to travel by train after obtaining special permission from the railways department through their employers.
