Turnover of the Stock Market exceeds Rs. 3 billion

COLOMBO (News 1st): Trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange resumed after a 30 minute cooling off period, on Tuesday (12th May). The Colombo Stock Exchange halted trading as the S&P SL 20 index fell below 5% few minutes after the bourse opened today, a day after it was closed within few seconds. The market turnover exceeded 3 billion rupees due to a block deal trade in resumed trading. As of 12 noon Tuesday, the turnover of the stock market was at Rs. 3.36 billion. The Bench mark all share price index was trading 2.65% percent down at 4,276.05 points while the most liquid share price index of S&P SL 20 index trading 3.77% percent weaker at 1,694.13 points, as of 12:45 pm on Tuesday. Trading at the Colombo Stock Exchange resumed on Monday (11th May), after being halted on March 20th.
