Showers across the island likely to enhance in the coming days

A heavy rainfall advisory has been issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre and the Department of Meteorology that is valid until 14th May. The advisory notes, that showery condition over the island is likely to enhance in the coming days. Showers or thundershowers are expected over most parts of the island, particularly in the evening or night. Heavy falls exceeding 100 mm are predicted in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Southern, Western and Eastern Provinces. Temporary localized strong winds between 70 to 80 km/h and severe lightning activity can also be expected during thundershowers
