UL to operate repatriation flight to Chennai

More than 400 Sri Lankans in Chennai to be repatriated on Tuesday

Colombo (News 1st); A special repatriation flight operated by Sri Lankan Airlines will return with 479 Sri Lankans stranded in Chennai, India tomorrow.

Chief of Defense Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lt. General Shavendra Silva said all of them would be moved to quarantine upon arrival.

Today 279 people were released from quarantine facilities operated by the armed forces after PCR confirmed they tested negative for COVID-19.

As of today, 7391 people were released from quarantine facilities operated by the armed forces in Sri Lanka.

There are 3805 people currently undergoing quarantine across 39 facilities in Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Navy is actively involved in all operations to combat COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, said Chief of Defense Staff and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Lt. General Shavendra Silva, dismissing social media reports of a pull out by the Navy.
