Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 cases rises to 824

COLOMBO (News 1st): The number of coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka rose to 824 on Friday (May 8). 27 COVID-19 patients were reported on Thursday and according to the Director-General of Health Services 25 of them were members of the Sri Lanka Navy. Official figures show that 583 active cases are under medical observation. Seventeen people recovered from the virus on Thursday, health ministry data show, raising the total number of recoveries to 232. The coronavirus which started spreading in the country on March 11, has claimed nine lives, with the latest death reported on Tuesday.
