COVID-19 patient among those repatriated from Dubai on Thursday

COLOMBO (News 1st): A passenger aboard the aircraft that returned, from Dubai on Thursday morning, has tested positive for COVID-19. The UL 303 aircraft that returned to the island on Thursday repatriated 197 passengers including Sri Lankan expatriates living in Dubai. Following tests conducted at the Bandaranaike International Airport, one individual among the passengers had displayed symptoms of COVID -19, and was thereafter admitted to the Negombo General Hospital. Following tests, it was confirmed that the individual had contracted the virus, and the patient was then transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital. The patient is a 44 year old resident of Piliyandala. "All passengers onboard the aircraft have been directed for quarantine," said Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander, on Friday (8th May).
