COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka will repatriate more than 430 of its citizens from Singapore and Dubai on Wednesday, a senior government official said.
“Both are cargo flights operated by SriLankan (Airlines),” Professor Jayanath Colombage, an Admiral, and the President’s additional foreign relations secretary said.
He noted that at least 260 from Dubai and 175 from Singapore will return to the country.
Meanwhile, a SriLankan airlines cargo flight which had flown to the UK with a batch of exported products, returned with 194 Sri Lankans on Wednesday.
“…that included students and short term visa holders,” the President’s additional foreign relations secretary added.
Sri Lanka has begun repatriating expatriate students, and is focusing on bringing back its expatriate workers in near future, the foreign ministry said this week.
