Govt. to focus on repatriating Sri Lankan students in South East Asia

Colombo (News 1st); Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage, the Additional Secretary to the President for Foreign Relations regarding COVID-19 said following the conclusion of the operation to repatriate Sri Lankan students from South Asia, the focus is now on South East Asia, UK, and Australia.

He said Sri Lankan students in Canada, the USA, and other cities in Europe have been informed that they can board the special repatriation flight from London to Colombo if they can make it to the UK.

Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage went on to note a flight would arrive in Colombo from Singapore on the 06th of May and another on the 10th of May from Malaysia.

He said thereafter, the Government would focus on the Philippines, Japan, Russia, and the Russian region as there are a large number of Sri Lankan students in the region especially in Lithuania, Latvia, and Belarus.

He further said the focus will also be directed to Sri Lankan expatriates living in Maldives, India and many other countries.
