Pensions for May to be paid before due date

COLOMBO (News1st): The payment of pensions for May will be advanced by a few days due to the Vesak Festival, the government said on Sunday. Pensions for retired public servants are usually paid on the 10th of every month, by crediting them to bank accounts or issuing them from post offices. "Considering the Vesak Festival and the weekend which will fall during this period, pensions will be paid on May 5 and 6," the presidential task force on economic revival said. It added that the state-run mechanism to transport pensioners to banks, pharmacies, and Ayurveda hospitals will continue to operate during the curfew.
