COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka’s cyber security institute has issued a “high” level threat alert of a malware that comes in the form of a legitimate mobile application.
The new malware, identified in March, is targeting over 200 financial applications including banking, money transfer services and crypto- currency wallets, the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) said.
“Use official google store to download application,” CERT stressed urging users to enable Google Play protect to avoid falling victim to the malware.
CERT noted that the malware is capable of reading SMS messages and stealing one’s personal information.
