COLOMBO (News 1st): In a letter to former Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, Secretary to the President Dr. P.B. Jayasundara said that the dissolved Parliament will not be reconvened. The letter has been drafted under the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. “The dissolved Parliament cannot be reconvened as the election that was to be held on the 25th of April, was postponed to the 20th of June by the National Election Commission,” said President's Secretary in his letter. According to Dr. Jayasundara, President noted that the letter issued by the opposition party leaders seemed to have recognized the proclamation of the dissolution of Parliament. “President notes that there is no requirement to act as per Article 70 (7) of the Constitution.” Dr. Jayasundara said.
