Schools will not be used as quarantine facilities

Colombo (News 1st); The Education Ministry stressed schools across the country will not be used as Quarantine Facilities.

Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education M.M. Ratnayake speaking to News 1st only 10 schools in Colombo were allocated as lodging facilities for the Armed Forces personnel. He said these 10 schools would serve as lodging for the Armed Force personnel who are deployed for duty from distant areas. M. M. Ratnayake went on to note, only the Puttlam Zahira Vidyalaya was used as a Quarantine Facility and its operations ended yesterday. The clarification was made after Ex-Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam claimed schools were to be used to house individuals who would be subject to quarantine.
