Colombo (News 1st); 53 of the 63 COVID-19 cases detected yesterday are sailors attached to the Sri Lanka Navy.
Of that figure, 16 sailors tested positive from inside the Welisara Navy Camp and 37 were those on leave outside of the camp.
Army Commander Lt. General Shavendra Silva speaking to News 1st said 05 others were detected from Quarantine Facilities, one of them was originally from Bandaranaike Mawatha and the other 04 were from Kochchikade, Negombo.
Further, a retired Sri Lanka Navy Officer had tested positive for COVID-19 as he visited the Welisara Navy Camp.
And for the first time, a Sri Lanka Air Force Airman had tested positive for the Coronavirus.
Further, 03 relatives of a Sri Lanka Navy Sailor had also tested positive for COVID-19.
