Colombo (News 1st); DIG Ajith Rohana speaking at the National Operations Centre for Preventing COVID-19 stressed those who post malicious content on social media targeting race and religion would be arrested and prosecuted as it is an offense under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Conviction of such crimes would result in a prison sentence of 07 years. He said the Criminal Investigations Department is investigating nine such incidents, reported on social media. DIG Ajith Rohana said those who post, share and reproduce such posts will be prosecuted as an accessory to the crime.
