COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka's constitutional council (CC) has convened a meeting at the parliament Speaker's residence on Thursday, the Parliament's Department of Communication said.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, former opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, and other members of the 10-member council are expected to attend the meeting.
Former speaker Karu Jayasuriya, who heads the body, will chair tomorrow's meeting, the communication department noted in a statement.
The CC had been set-up under the 19th amendment in 2015, and is responsible in appointing members to the independent commissions in the country.
